I know I have been complaining a lot, but this will be the last complaint for the year. Promise!
Last week, Brint was talking to our Property Manager, Jon. Our sink was backing-up again and just another headache waiting to happen. So during their phone conversation, Jon asks Brint if we ended up getting the AC unit. And Brint and told him we did, we got the same unit as the people upstairs. (keep in mind, Jon told us we were allowed to have an AC unit. That is the only reason we bought one.) Well I guess the electrical bill went up by $150 for that month and they were trying to figure out why. Keep in mind, we don't pay electrical, it's included in our rent. So Brint had asked Jon if there was problem, and Jon replied saying "no, no problem, everything should be fine." Well the next morning we got hit with a Lease Violation!!!
Yes, a LEASE VIOLATION!!!!
We were in shock at frist and then PISSED! Here is what it said:
ALTERATIONS TO UNIT WITHOUT PERMISSION
The electricity bill has increased significantly and it has been noted that an A/C unit has been
installed. This is considered an "alteration" to the property. To continue the use and to keep
the unit installed we will need to have a Signed Addendum to your Lease with a rental increase
of $50 per month to cover the cost. Please contact us at your earliest convenience.
Fine: $0 $20 $50 $100 $150 $200 $250 $300 $350 $400 $500
FINE $0 *** WARNING NOTICE ***
After we read this a few times, we tried calling Jon, and no answer. By the time he got back to us, he got an ear full! What these morons didn't realize that my husband is an attorny in training and in his research, they cannot do this!
Anyway, after a lot more stress then needed, we finally were getting it resolved when BAM! The unit upstairs got a letter on their door. The dulpex that we are living in is getting Forclosed!!!! It is going to auction on January 15, 2010 and if no one buys it, then it's going to be banked own and we are homeless!!!!! We will be getting our security deposit back along with the left over money from Jan rent. But we know nothing more. I guess the manager (Jon's boss) had no idea that this was going to happen and he didn't find out about it until the people upstairs called him and informed him of this. We are still waiting to hear back from him so we can find out what we need to do and what to expect. OH.MY.GOSH! I just want to cry!
My feelings on the matter are, Merry freakin Christmas! Because you know, what the heck? We are leaving for AZ on Saturday and we get back on the 6th of Jan. So thankfully Brint will be available to help me get everything ready to move, but come on people!!!! Yes, we don't particularly like the place that we are in right now, and yes we would like to move and find somewhere with a yard for Duke, but right now there is NOTHING! Well nothing cheaper and I'm sure most of you know how expensive Hawaii is, and how POOR we students are!!! I guess this is not the way I envisioned us spending Brint's break! :(
I guess there is something that we can do. When the bank takes ownership of the house, there is a program called Keys for Cash, and I guess in order to get the tenents out of the house they pay you. (I don't really know how it works, but cross your fingers SOMETHING works!)
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Yup! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!
So I just learned that these bad boys are EVERY WHERE here! My friend was over yestserday and told me the scariest story...
So she was out surffing one day at a beach called Secrets and she was out there all by herself and she saw something brown in the water. So the next wave came and there it was... a HUGE brown Tiger Shark! *SCREAM*
And the other thing was she was a mile from the shore and she was all alone... luckly she was able to catch the next wave and ride it in as far as she could. Happy to say that she was safe and sound, but can you say scary???
Yeah I am NEVER getting in that water! Freakin crazy!!!!
